·         Joined IPS in 1973 after a brief stint in the Central Public Works Department

·         1973-1982, served in various capacities in Uttar Pradesh in Fatehgarh, Azamgarh and Pratapgarh, and in the Intelligence, Fire Services and Vigilance departments

·         Chief Security Officer of UPSRTC before coming to Karnataka on transfer in April, 1982

·         1982-1985: Superintendent of Police, Bangalore and Bellary

·         1985-1996: SP/CBI Bangalore, DIG/CBI New Delhi and DIG/CBI Madras

·         In June 1996, promoted as IGP and served as Commissioner for Traffic & Road Safety in the Office of the DG & IGP, Karnataka

·         1996-2000: Director (Security & Vigilance) in KSRTC

·         July-2000 to July-2001: Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Corps of Detectives

·         From July-2001- February 2006: Chairman & Managing Director of KSPHC

·         From February 2006- 22 June 2006: Commandant General, Home Guards, Ex- Officio Director, Civil Defence & Director, Fire & Emergency Services

·         From June 22, 2006: Chairman & Managing Director of KSPHC

·      Decorated with the Indian Police Medal for meritorious service on Republic Day in 1989 and President's Police Medal for distinguished services on Independence Day in 1995.
