He is a post graduate in agriculture from Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi with specialization in Horticulture.

DHe belongs to 1989 batch of Indian Police Service.

Before joining the Police Service he was in Indian Forest Service, and served as Assistant Development Officer in NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development).

He has served as Superintendent of Police, Kolar Gold Fields, as S.P.Raichur District, as DCP South Zone, Bangalore, and as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services.

Presently he is working as secretary to Government, (PCAS) Home Department since 2.2.2008.
